Cotton Bowl Athletic Assocation partners with StatBroadcast for 2013-14

ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- The Cotton Bowl Athletic Association and StatBroadcast announced today that they have entered a partnership for the 2013-14 college football season to utilize StatBroadcast's statistics technologies at the games hosted by the bowl, including the 2014 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.

The Cotton Bowl Classic is one of the oldest college football bowl traditions in existence, having been played annually since 1937. The AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic moved from historic Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas to AT&T Stadium (formerly Cowboys Stadium) in Arlington, Texas in 2013. Currently, the Cotton Bowl pits top selections from the SEC and Big 12 that did not qualify for the BCS; beginning with the 2014 season, the Cotton Bowl Classic will become an access bowl as part of the College Football Playoff and, in years when it is not hosting a national semifinal game, will receive its selections from teams ranked near the top of the new CFP poll at season’s end.

The Cotton Bowl is also playing host to the 2013 Shamrock Series, which will pit Notre Dame against Arizona State University, on October 5, in front of a national TV audience; it will also host the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Shootout between Texas Tech and Baylor on November 16. StatBroadcast will provide its technologies for both games. The Cotton Bowl also annually hosts the Cowboys Classic, which hosts a matchup of ranked teams on the opening weekend of the season; this year’s fifth edition of the game featured No. 12 LSU defeating No. 20 TCU 37-27 on September 1.

Next year, in addition to the Cowboys Classic, three other regular season matchups and the 2015 Cotton Bowl Classic, the Cotton Bowl will also host the first-ever College Football Playoff Championship game, which for the first time at the FBS level, will pit the winners of two postseason games against each other for the national title. The Cotton Bowl Classic is also slated to host national semifinal games in December of 2015, 2018, 2021 and 2024.

The Cotton Bowl joins fellow College Football Playoff members Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl as partners of StatBroadcast.
